SEEKING A HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE

“For my ways are not your ways, and My thoughts are not your thoughts,” declares the Lord. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are My ways above your ways and My thought above your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 8-9

This has become one of my favorite verses since our son Calvin died. I was praying one day, asking God to please just tell me the reasons that He took Calvin home to Heaven at the age of 17? I felt that if I knew all the reasons God took him, it would be easier for me to let him go? God spoke clearly, not in an audible voice, but to my heart, and basically told me that even if He told me every single reason that Calvin died, I would still want him back! And that was true. This verse tells me that I am never going to totally “get it” until I get to Heaven. We don’t have God’s perspective. Our perspective is limited to our experience and knowledge. Even when we add faith into the picture, we can trust God that He knows what He is doing, but our understanding does not increase…just our faith as we see Him work. Because of Who He is and all He has done, God has proven Himself trustworthy over and over again. So, once again, it comes down to a question of faith—Will we trust God, even when we don’t understand? The choice is yours today…Will you trust Him?
