SHARING COMFORT

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. II Corinthians 1:3-4

God is the source of so many good things. He created us and because He did, He understands all of our needs…physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

As our Heavenly Parent, He promised to “provide all of our needs through His riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) He knew when He created us, that this life would be hard and that there would be many times where we would need to be comforted. Because He is Jehovah Jireh (our Provider), He is fully equipped with everything that we could ever need. His Word tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23 that “His mercies fail not. They are new every morning.” His mercy and comfort supplied to us are not only for our benefit, but so that we can share them with others He brings across our path.

I have heard it said that “God never wastes any trial.” These verses show us that one of the purposes we can count on when we are going through a hard time is that God wants us to share His mercy and His comfort with others who need it.

Sometimes people do not have a personal relationship with the Lord but that does not keep us from sharing His mercy and comfort with them. In fact, the opportunity to share in those circumstances is even more important because if they do not yet know the Lord personally, how will they experience His comfort and His mercy if we do not allow Him to work through us?

We are exhorted in Matthew 5:14-16 to be light in a dark world. God’s comfort and mercy are the perfect way for us to light up the world around us.

Who needs God’s comfort and mercy today?

Are you willing to be His vessel?
