But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him Who loved us. Romans 8:37
How can I “overwhelmingly conquer” when I don’t feel like I can breathe in one more breath, or take one more step down the road of life? When life has knocked you down over and over again, the idea of conquering doesn’t seem real.
But as we read the rest of that verse, we find the key. It is “through Him Who loved us.” It is ONLY through Him that we can conquer. Only in His strength…in His might…with His power can we become victorious, especially during trials and hard times.
And we can trust this promise because He loved us and proved His love, once, for all time, at Calvary. He loved us when He created us, and He loves us as He provides for us daily, but when Jesus died on the cross, that one single act proved the extent of God’s love for us.
In the Old Testament, people often built an altar when God had done something special there for them. As they passed the altar, it was a reminder of God’s faithfulness, and an opportunity to share with their descendents what God had done.
The cross is our “altar”…our reminder of God’s love. Through that love, we can overwhelmingly conquer anything!
Let Him win your battles today.
